Tara - J Farms Mustang
Tara-J Farms Mustang lies in the legendary apple country of Marpha. This historic orchard, one of Nepal's oldest, sits at over 3,000 meters in the beautiful Kali Gandaki Valley. Guests are greeted by stunning views of the Nilgiri peaks in front and the mighty Dhaulagiri behind — all while walking through century-old apple trees in this unique high-altitude desert landscape in the Himalayas.
Our farm continues Marpha's proud tradition as Nepal's apple capital. Here, crisp Himalayan apples, apricots, and sea buckthorn grow alongside organic high-altitude vegetables and herbs. Guests can wander through the orchard, pick fruit straight from the trees, visit our small distillery for fresh apple cider and brandy, or simply relax with a slice of warm apple pie while soaking in the mountain views.
Located just a five-minute drive or thirty-minute walk from Jomsom's airport, we're perfectly positioned with easy access to flights in and out of the region. Marpha and Jomsom also serve as the main gateway to Upper Mustang — the mystical Tibetan plateau that stretches north to Lo- Manthang, right on the border with Tibet.
Immerse yourself in the rich Thakali culture that defines Marpha and Mustang. The warm, hospitable Thakali people have preserved their unique traditions, Tibetan-influenced architecture, and distinctive cuisine for generations. Savor authentic Thakali thali with its flavorful dal, buckwheat dishes, local vegetables, and fragrant jimbu-spiced potatoes — all perfectly complemented by our own fresh apples and apple brandy.
At Tara-J Farms Mustang, we believe in farming gently, living in harmony with nature, and welcoming guests into honest, meaningful experiences. This is not just tourism. It is responsible regeneration, rooted in deep respect for the soil, the mountains, the rivers, the flora and fauna, and the communities that have lived here for generation
